Hi, my name is Caroline and I want to show you my glossary about my future program at CLG, which is animal health technology. I want to share lots of terms about this technique because some of them are quite of hard to understand at first and because you’ll go through all of them if you study in this technique.

anesthesia
Noun
insensitivity to pain, especially as artificially induced by the administration of gases or the injection of drugs before surgical operations.

behaviour
Noun
Animal behaviour, the concept, broadly considered, referring to everything animals do, including movement and other activities and underlying mental processes.
Example: The study of animal behavior begins with understanding how an animal’s physiology and anatomy are integrated with its behavior.

Noun
the emergence of an animal from the body of its mother; the start of life as a physically separate being.
Example: My rabbit gave birth to nine beautiful bunnies.

Blood tests may be done to look for signs of disease or agents that cause disease, to check for antibodies or tumor markers, or to see how well treatments are working.
Example: blood test will help to understand current renal function in your dog system.

Breeding is sexual reproduction that produces offspring, usually animals or plants.
Example: Selective breeding, the process of selecting and encouraging desirable traits in a subject population, has been used by humankind for hundreds of years.

A flexible tube inserted through a narrow opening into a body cavity, particularly the bladder, for removing fluid.

Example: Developing new type of vaccine is critical to control of animal disease.

the practice of brushing and cleaning the coat of a horse, dog, or other animal.
Example: Long-haired dogs need a lot of grooming.

Verb
The term "neuter" is used to describe castration in a dog. It is the surgical removal of a male dog's testicles.
Example: A neutered male will be able to have other rabbit friends, without fear of aggression or breeding.

Noun
nursing is the supportive care of animals receiving treatment within a veterinary practice.
Example: today I nursed the new litter of kittens.

Animal nutrition focuses on the dietary nutrient’s needs of animals, primarily those in agriculture and food production, but also in zoos, aquariums, and wildlife management.
Example: He got his start in animal nutrition than made the jump in human nutrition.

Noun
Animal or plant organism that feeds strictly at the expense of a host organism of a different species, either permanently or during a phase of its life cycle.
Example: There are rare parasites who settle in the respiratory system, the heart or on the surface of the eye

Noun
Prophylaxis is an important dental treatment for stopping the progression of periodontal disease and gingivitis.
Example: The prophylaxis is important in order to limit the spread of the parasites.

the science dealing with X-rays and other high-energy radiation, especially the use of such radiation for the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Noun
A product that stimulates an animal’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, protecting the person from that disease
Example: There has been much research into the development of a vaccine to protect cats from FIV.
